Enhance skills by serving those with medically complex conditions. Responding to the need for professional dental care for people living with HIV/AIDS, APLA opened the first 100% AIDS-dedicated dental facility operated by a community based organization in March of 1985. After 25 years of growth, and with the addition of a mobile dental clinic in September of 2004 and a satellite clinic in South Los Angeles in 2009, APLA Dental Services is now the nation's largest provider of dental care to people living with HIV/AIDS. AIDS Project Los Angeles is dedicated to: improving the lives of people affected by HIV disease; reducing the incidence of HIV infection; and advocating for fair and effective HIV-related public policy. APLA Dental Services offers comprehensive dental care, including diagnostic exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, crowns, partial or full dentures, root canals and extractions. We also work closely with the Oral Surgery Department at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, the specialty programs at both UCLA and USC Dental Schools, and many other local health organizations to avoid service duplication and to maximize community resources.
