High quality, patient-centered care. Bay Clinic, Inc. Community Health Center was originally founded as a women's clinic in Hilo in 1983. Since then Bay Clinic has expanded from a small rural clinic to four comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Centers serving the medical, dental and behavioral health care needs of East and South Hawaii Island. In 2001, the Ka'u Family Health and Dental Center was opened to serve the Upper Puna district. In 2012, the Hilo Family Dental Center opened with six exam rooms to provide affordable dental care for the Hilo community. Bay Clinic serves native Hawaiians, migrants from the Freely Associated States, Hispanic laborers and geographically remote communities. Diabetes, hypertension, and heart and lung diseases are prevalent. Substance abuse, mental illness, and domestic violence are major concerns.
