Where children get to be children. Dental services at Children's Village are available to any and all children throughout the Valley. The dental team specializes in caring for children with special health care needs, behavioral issues, and/or dental fears and can serve children with special needs up to 18-years-old. LMC-Yakima, WA partners with Yakima Valley Farm Worker’s Clinic and prides itself on providing a “working” residency that prepares graduates for real-world experiences and the challenges of transitioning to career choices in community health, academic pediatric dentistry, or a busy private practice. LMC’s PEDS residency in WA provides a great clinical and didactic environment with two state-of-the-art federally qualified health center clinics (one focused specifically on children with special needs), four board-certified faculty, a welcoming community with four seasons and a low cost of living. Local classes to supplement VTC lectures include Growth and Development/ Orthodontics, Dental Traumatology, Behavior Guidance, Dental Materials, Pediatric Restorative Dentistry, Pulp Therapy, Cleft Lip/Palate, Space Maintenance, Medical Emergencies, a Leadership Seminar, and our fun/educational, but optional, movie nights. Rotations also occur at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center and Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital-Children’s Village. Residents learn to work with a complete healthcare team – faculty pediatric dental providers, a dental anesthesiologist and other dental specialists, an expanded functions dental hygienist, dental assistants, physicians, midlevel medical providers, nurses, and support staff. Over time, residents build and expand upon quality skills and knowledge. By graduation, they are ready to manage a full schedule of multiple columns and oversee auxiliaries working within their scope of practice. Our clinics provide compassionate, comprehensive pediatric dental care for children from birth to age 18 from a culturally and socioeconomically diverse population that includes medically complex patients and those with developmental disabilities. The program offer a strong prevention program, high-quality restorative dentistry, management of cleft lip/palate, interceptive orthodontics, sedation, in-office and hospital-based general anesthesia treatment. Recent graduates each treated over 100 general anesthesia cases. Our program places a strong emphasis on faculty, residents, and staff working as a team to provide quality patient care and resident education.
